Breastfeeding Support

WBA's Fieldworkers engage with mothers and pregnant women at clinics to provide breastfeeding education, counselling and support, thereby empowering them to succeed in their breastfeeding journey.

WBA conducted successful breastfeeding training sessions for Community Health Workers (CHWs) serving the Mamelodi communities. The training led to improvement in the participants’ breastfeeding knowledge and skills to support, promote, and protect breastfeeding in the communities they serve.

WBA established breastfeeding support groups to foster peer support among breastfeeding mothers and pregnant women.

WBA provides breastfeeding training support to Community Health Workers to increase their knowledge and skills in supporting,promoting, and protecting breastfeeding in the communities.

Breastfed infants have a lower risk of diabetes, obesity, and certain cancers in adult years. A healthy infant grows to become a healthy and productive adult able to contribute to the nation’s economy.

When breastfeeding is done appropriately, it lowers infants’ risk for infections, respiratory diseases, diarrhea, and child stunting.
